Jeffrey Lester (1976)
Jeffrey Charles Lester (1976) was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois on October 9, 1954. He passed away at his home in Clovis, California on December 18, 2011, at the age of 57.

Elizabeth (Payne) Covino (1984)
Elizabeth A. Covino of Andover, Mass., has been named President of the Association of YMCA Professionals (AYP) Chapter IV. In this role, she leads the professional development efforts of this organization whose goal it is to advance, inspire, and connect the YMCA leaders. This organization has nearly 300 members in Eastern Massachusetts. Ms. Covino is Vice President of Marketing & Development at the Merrimack Valley YMCA, based in Lawrence. She started at the Y in 1997 as Director of Marketing and Public Relations. Merrimack Valley YMCA is comprised of the Andover/North Andover YMCA, Lawrence YMCA, Methuen YMCA, and two resident camps on Lake Winnipesaukee and Day Camp Otter in Salem, NH.
A 1984 graduate of California State University, she has worked exclusively in the not-for-profit arena – at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children headquarters in Boston, the New England College of Optometry in Boston, and at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport.
She resides in Andover, Mass., with her husband Ralph Covino and daughter Kathryn LaBatte, a junior at Rivier College in Nashua, NH, studying nursing.

Artist Robert Katsusuke Ogata (1955) and his paintings are featured in the January 2010 issue of “Fresno Talent Magazine.”

Lee Eager (2002)
Lee Ann Eager (2002) has been named the new president and CEO of the Economic Development Corporation serving Fresno County. She also holds a law degree from UC Davis.

Jim Nielsen (1966)
Jim Nielsen (1967) has served in the California State Assembly in the 2nd District since 2008. A former business owner and ranch foreman, he also served in the California State Senate from 1978 to 1990. A Republican, he is the founder of the California Alliance to Protect Private Property Rights.

Connie Conway (1972)
Connie Conway (Alumna) was re-elected to the California State Assembly on Nov. 2, 2010 representing the 34th District, which comprises most of Tulare County, all of Inyo County and parts of Kern and San Bernardino County. The Republican was selected Assembly Minority Leader, the top leadership role in the Assembly Republican Caucus.

Jeannie (Guenther) Fuller (1972)
Jean Fuller (1972) represents the 18th District in the California State Senate, the largest district geographically in the State. She has served as Chair of the Rural Caucus, a bipartisan group of 43 Assembly Members and Senators who provided a strong, united voice for residents of rural communities.

Tracy Kashian (2004)
Tracy Kashian (2004) has been elected to the board of directors of the Fresno County Chamber of Commerce. She is the Senior Vice President of Marketing, Public Relations & Property Manager for River Park, Village at River Park, Fancher Creek and Campus Pointe.

Frances (Jones) Pavley (1970)
Fran Pavley (1970) serves in the California State Senate representing the people of the 23rd District. A Democrat, she was elected as the first Mayor of Agoura Hills in 1982 and served four terms as Mayor and Councilmember (1982-1997). Since elected to the Senate in 2008, Sen. Pavley had represented approximately 925,000 people throughout portions of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.

Sasha Pimentel Chacon (2007)
Sasha Pimentel Chacon (2007) returns to her alma mater to read from her book “Insides She Swallowed” on March 22nd at the Henry Madden Library. She is an assistant professor of writing at the University of Texas at El Paso’s Department of Creative Writing.

Polly McNabb, associate editor of the California Southern Baptist for more than 40 years, died Dec. 12, 2011 from a massive stroke. She was 87.
