Edward O'Keefe (Graduate School of Education, 1974) writes, " I recently published a book on peak experiences (ala psychologist Abraham Maslow). The title is " Take It From the Top: What To Do With a Peak Experience". It is a compiliation of some 90 peak experiences from my writing students over the years and from friends and some famous people too.

Information is available on my web site www.peakexperience.info or by emailing me at edrookeefe@att.net

My thesis is that PEs not only move the individual 'peakers' forward, but the whole race consciousness benefits. PEs have been increasing in numbers and intensity in recent years. ...Barriers to PEs are discussed as well as possible explanations of their origins. ...A bibliography of 100 books in included.

Catching Up

Laura Post ()
Laura Post (1987) writes:
This year, 2013, marks the 16th anniversary of my graduation from SUNYAB's Medical School. I have not much been in touch during the intervening years, partly because I believed that what I have wound up doing would be perceived as lesser than what I believed was expected of me. I suspect that many of us from the Class of 1987 feel the same: yet, I am content, and I hope that you all are too.

Synopsis. Psychiatry Residency in SF, years working in the public sector to pay off school loans, then relocation to the island of Saipan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (USA) in 1997. Ostensibly a two-year adventure while I thought about things, have remained in the American Pacific since then, now on nearby Guam.

I have had the good fortune to be welcomed by the beautiful Chamorro, Carolinian, and other indigenous islanders and also to practice in a wide variety of general health/mental health areas (primary care, chemical dependency, criminal cases). I am by no means famous, but my small business has been able to bring both sons and their families from North America and to support five therapists.

Things you may not know about me: I married Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Judith Avery (MS from UB 1988) several years ago. I have been clean and sober for nearly 25 years. I I live on a family compound overlooking the quiet rugged jungle.

At the local coffee shop, on any given morning, we might hear English, Chamorro, Tagalog, Ilocano, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Hindi, Bangladeshi, Russian, Tamil, Bahasa, Chukese, Palauan, Yapese, Ponapeian, Pingelapese, Kosraean, Marshallese, Spanish, Farsi, Arabic, Hebrew, British English, Ozzie English, Kiwi English, or one of 30 or so other languages whose speakers have migrated to Guam in search of a better life.

Collectively, we have 5 dogs, 3 cats, and one parrot. There are so many outdoor activities that one can do year-round: hiking, camping, golf, fishing, snorkeling, scuba, surfing, paddling, cricket, horseback riding, rugby, parkour, hunting (wild deer and boar), soccer, American football, basketball, beach volleyball, and baseball/softball as well as very active running clubs and mixed martial arts gyms.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible one of these years at a Spring Clinical Weekend. I am on Facebook as Laura L. Post and my email address is <DrLauraPost@yahoo.com>

Collegially,
Laura

In my Georgetown office I treat individuals, groups and couples with a combination of insight oriented and behavioral psychotherapy focused on real life outcomes. Despite my location I continue to be a loyal Bills and Sabres fan."  Click here for photo
