A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE BCLEN LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE
Members of the Boston College Law Enforcement Alumni Network,
Monday's horrific events at the Boston Marathon have directly impacted the lives of members of BCLEN, the greater Boston College alumni community, Boston and our country. At this time, we wanted to reach out to the members of BCLEN to remind one another of the network as well as its goal to serve as a resource to one another and to the Boston College community as a whole. For those of our members whose law enforcement talents are being called upon as this message is sent, we thank you for your service and extend to you our willingness to help in your efforts. Members should not hesitate to reach out to one another for assistance in reaching our group goal of public service. If you need a copy of the BCLEN directory - or need to add yourself or update your information, please send us an e-mail (to email@example.com) as the directory is not publicly available. We have had many successful instances where a network member has made an important contribution to another member's investigation or case.
Rather than organizing our own fund, Boston College is encouraging those interested in giving to consider "One Fund Boston." The website is www.onefundboston.org. We also want to pass along a fundraising website for a couple, one of whom is a Boston College alumnus, and friends of BCLEN Leadership Committee member David McGowan, a Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney. The Downes, husband and wife, each lost a leg as a result of the bombing. Please consider sending them your prayers, thoughts and support, whether financial, emotional or both. The website is: http://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/ygf1/helpforpatandjess?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=fb_share_stream.share&utm_campaign=receipt_T1&fb_ref=908265.
As always, if you have any ideas or suggestions for BCLEN, please send them to us. We are also looking for members who are interested in taking a more active role in the group's leadership or who would like to contribute to upcoming newsletters.
BCLEN Leadership Committee
The goal of the Boston College Law Enforcement Network is to provide opportunities for Boston College alumni in this challenging field to get to know one another and share information. We will provide career networking opportunities for alumni and share information on internships and jobs with undergraduate students at Boston College. By getting to know one another, network members will find new resources to continue their shared pursuit of justice.
JOINING THE NETWORK
To join the network, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and provide your name, school and class year, current professional organization and title, as well as your contact information.
We plan to create a searchable database for BCLEN members to find other members (based on location and specialty) who might be able to help in an investigation.
To participate, please fill out this short biographical form and e-mail it back to email@example.com. Because of the sensitive nature of law enforcement work, access will only be available to BCLEN members. If you would like to request the directory, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your support of BCLEN.
The Department of Criminal Justice Info Systems(DCJIS) has the following opportunities for students to work in three of the units within the agency. The units are Victim Service Unit(VSU), Firearms Bureau(FRB), and Criminal Offender Record Information(CORI). The positions are unpaid and we are willing to be flexible around school schedules for students. To find out more information and to apply, click on the links below.
