BSC Health Care Group

On March 5, 2009, the BSC Health Care Group met in the Stephens Science Center on BSC's campus for food and a presentation.  Two BSC pre-med students presented their research on cancer cell biology while guests dined on the fine cuisine of Gray Byrum '87 of Echelon Catering.  Guests (and staff) were blown away by the knowledge these students displayed. Guests were also told how they could support BSC pre-health students with their research as well as through mentoring and shadowing opportunities.

We hope you will all join us for the next BSC Health Care Event!

On October 9, 2008, BSC Health Care Professionals gathered at Village Wine Market in English Village for a wine-tasting with BSC Professor of English Dr. Michael McInturff.  Group Leader Greg Banks '83 welcomed everyone and spoke of the beautiful landscape at BSC's campus. Dr. McInturff  entertained alumni with his presentation on The Renaissance of Taste:  Creating the Connoisseur.  Artist Don Stewart '81 offered a wine bottle and art signing at the event, featuring the Bugay Winery's Long Stem Rose, which bears artwork from the DS Art Studio on the bottle.  Alumni thoroughly enjoyed themselves and left asking when the next event would take place.  Thank you to everyone who came!  We hope to see you all at the next one!

The BSC Medical Group gathered on June 12, 2008 in the Bradley Lecture Center of Children's Hospital.  Greg Banks '83 welcomed everyone and gave an overview of this developing group.  Alumni enjoyed food and conversation as well as a presentation from BSC Interim Provost Dr. Wayne Shew on how to help students pursuing a career in health.   Alumni were excited to learn about the many opportunities available to them, including shadowing, mentoring, assisting with mock interviews, and giving student lectures.  Thank you to everyone who came!  We hope to see even more of you at the next event. We'd also like to thank Kim Bullock '99 for helping to put this event together!

The Inaugural Gathering

of the BSC Medical Group

was held Thursday, January 31, at Brookwood Medical Center.
