Bettianne Flanders (1993)
Bettianne Flanders (1993) writes, "I manage a band called Broke On Friday, a group of working class kids from the Cape. We just returned from our first tour. The trip went well, introducing our music to more than 2000 new people.
It was the first time to Colorado for the band and they thoroughly enjoyed each city. Doing a show every night was a new and enticing experience. We used the downtime to make notes on our new LP due out in early 2008.
The 1978 Dodge Pace Arrow RV we borrowed was the envy of all the bands we met. She wasn’t pretty but she was functional and fun and left us a great deal of fantastic memories.

Unfortunately, there is a sad twist to the end of our tour. We had driven all night following our final show. We were in Vegas when we heard a pop under the RV. Cars immediately flagged us down. We pulled off the next exit and parked in an open lot across from a gas station to check things out.
As we gathered about the white smoke of the engine, a kid pulled up, asked if we had an extinguisher and if anyone was on board. We answered yes to both questions. He instructed us to get the extinguisher and get everyone out. He had seen below what we could not, black smoke. We had just enough time to wake the last two guys and get them out the door. Within 15 seconds, the entire RV was engulfed in flames.
Apparently, the pop we heard was the gas line breaking loose, spilling 75 gallons of fuel about the engine which had been running for more than 8 hours.
The band lost everything the guys had spent the better part of two years saving to buy. While the RV was insured, the band's gear was not. We are determined to get back on tour and complete the LP as fast as possible, but neither is possible without gear.

Shannon Dunnigan (1993)
Shannon Dunnigan has been hired as Director of Online Revenue at GateHouse Media.
Shannon brings approximately 14 years of experience in both sales and operations of market leading Web publishing companies. Most recently she was General Manager of MassLive.com for Advance Internet in Springfield, MA. Prior to that she spent 6 years working in various leadership positions in sales and marketing including 3 years as the Director of New Media at projo.com, for the Providence Journal, a BELO Corp. property in Providence, Rhode Island.
Shannon holds a BS degree in Business Administration, specializing in Marketing as well as an MBA specializing in Management, both earned at Bryant College in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
Shannon’s duties will include responsibility for all GateHouse Media Internet revenue, including online classified and vertical products, Internet advertising sales, tracking and reporting, sales training of advertising representatives, building national sales channels as well as general advertising management.
Shannon will be based in Needham, MA and will be reporting into corporate headquarters in Rochester, New York.
