AU&ME ONLINE COMMUNITY
The Andrews University Online Community (AU&ME) is provided by the Alumni Association and the University and is designed to facilitate communication among alumni for personal or University-related purposes.
AU&ME is a service provided by Harris Connect. Alumniconnections.com is a website owned and operated by Harris Connect, Andrews University's trusted partner. Data hosted on Harris Connect systems is subject to the same privacy terms as data stored and used on the Andrews University networks.
I. Privacy and Security
The University and Alumni Association have not, do not and will never sell alumni information to anyone. All alumni information is strictly guarded for use by individual alumni and the Alumni Association for personal and University-related purposes only.
In addition, your information is used to create a record about you in our alumni and donor database, or to update your existing record. Your credit card information is not stored in this record or database.
Your personal information may be used for fundraising purposes or to provide you with information about Andrews Alumni Association activities. Your information may also be shared with other Andrews offices and departments for University-related activities.
Andrews University has a small number of affinity partners, such as banks and insurance companies, who offer special promotions for Andrews students and alums. We carefully screen these partners and believe that they provide value to the Andrews community. From time-to-time the University may share your information with these business partners in order that they may offer you their services or products.
You may request to opt-out of receiving any or all of these communications by e-mailing us at alumni@andrews.edu. When contacting us, please specify which types of communication (e-mail, regular mail, telephone calls, etc.) you no longer wish to receive.
Andrews reserves the right to change this policy or University policies at any time without notice. You should visit this page periodically to review the current policy.
The use of cookies is limited to store an active login session to enhance the experience of the visitor who goes back and forth between the public and the private, password-protected area of the site. We do not store personal preferences, personal information or pages visited on the site in cookies.
When an alum or friend subscribes to an e-mail list or provides an e-mail address for other purposes, his or her e-mail address is recorded. That address is used for sending out future mailings via e-mail. That address may also be used for general Andrews University announcements. The e-mail address of a subscriber will NEVER be disclosed to a third party.
The Alumni Association has taken all reasonable precautions to secure the personal information available through the Online community. The AU&ME is password protected to allow access by registered University constituents only. Although this precaution should effectively protect any personal information available through the AU&ME from abuse or outside interference, a certain degree of privacy risk is faced any time information is shared over the Internet.
Therefore, through the Online Directory feature of the AU&ME, you have the ability to hide your information from being viewed by other community members.
II. Policy and Guidelines for Proper Use
To safeguard the operation of the AU&ME, the Alumni Association has adopted many guidelines and policies that are used by the University to govern conduct, particularly that which occurs in an Online environment.
In addition to the University's policies and guidelines, users of the AU&ME must abide by the following specific rules and regulations:
A. Unauthorized copying, reproduction, republishing, uploading, downloading, posting, transmitting or duplicating any of the material is prohibited. You may download or copy any downloadable materials displayed on the AU&ME for home, noncommercial and personal use only; provided, however, that you maintain all copyright, trademark and other notices contained in such material and you agree to abide by all additional copyright notices or restrictions contained in any material accessed through the AU&ME.
B. Use of information or communications available through the AU&ME for any commercial, public or political purposes is strictly prohibited. Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to, solicitations for commercial services, cold-calling of any kind or mass-mailings for commercial purposes. Information available through the AU&ME may be used for specific personal and University-related purposes only.
C. Users shall not restrict nor inhibit any other user from enjoying any service on the AU&ME. Posting of obscene materials or use of obscene language, posting of vulgar materials, or use of vulgar language, or use of abusive, defamatory, profane, or threatening language of any kind, will constitute a violation of these policies governing the use of the AU&ME. Additionally, users shall not upload, transmit, distribute or otherwise publish any materials containing a virus or any other harmful component.
D. All aliases adopted by AU&ME users are subject to approval by the University and/or the Alumni Association to ensure that the proper image is associated with the institution.
Neither the University nor the Alumni Association is responsible for screening communications in advance, and neither the University nor the Association will actively monitor the use of the AU&ME. For this reason, it is essential that the alumni users of the AU&ME report any abuses or misuse of the AU&ME to the Alumni Association. If the Alumni Association determines that a user's participation in the AU&ME creates a liability for the Alumni Association or the University or that the user has violated the policies set forth herein, the Alumni Association reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to take actions against the user. The Alumni Association reserves the right to expel a user and deny a user further access to the AU&ME if such user violates these policies or any applicable laws or regulations.
III. Liability and Indemnity
The reliability of the information available through the AU&ME is largely dependent upon the actions of community registrants. The Alumni Association can make no representations about the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or timeliness of this information.
The Alumni Association does not warrant that the AU&ME web site will operate error-free or that the site and its server are free of computer viruses or other harmful material. To the fullest extent permitted by the law, the Alumni Association disclaims all warranties, including the warranties of merchantability, non-infringement, and fitness for particular purpose. In no event shall the Alumni Association or the University be liable for any damages whatsoever, including, without limitation, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, resulting from the use of or inability to use information or materials available on the AU&ME web site.

Please note that the Alumni Association may revise these policies and your continued use of the site constitutes your agreement to comply with such modifications. You should review the policies periodically to ensure that you are familiar with them.
Participation in the AU&ME is a privilege and the community participation can be revoked at any time if deemed necessary by AU&ME administration.
