Northwest School Alums Featured in Science

The May 22nd issue of Science features an article which references the work of two Northwest School alums, Rebecca Terry '97 and Josh Miller '96, citing one of Rebecca's articles and one of Josh's conference papers. The authors worked to demonstrate how good a fit can be made between "bone assemblages" and the actual community structure/ecology of the living community that left the bones behind. This is of importance to paleontologists, who are always trying to understand past ecological systems from piles of bones.

Mark Terry believes this may be a first: two NWS alums cited in the same Science paper. The article: Bone Assemblages Track Animal Community Structure over 40 Years in an African Savanna Ecosystem, by David Western and Anna K. Behrensmeyer.
