YARI has been established to promote interchange among Yale alumni and friends, to organize interesting lectures and events and to help support the 1200 member Yale community of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.

Background

The Yale Association of Rhode Island was founded in 1912. Today YARI continues to fulfill the goals outlined in its by-laws, including:

  • Promoting fellowship among area alumni, students, and parents
  • Fostering the educational and philanthropic relationship between alumni, the University and students
  • Providing guidance and financial assistance to local recruits
  • Continuing the education of alumni
  • Encouraging Yale alumni to contribute to public service
  • Enhancing the reputation of Yale University

Yale Day of Service: Saturday, May 12, 2012

Yale is about community and connectedness, an education for impact and service…and that’s what the Yale Day of Service does! On May 12th, 2012, Yale alumni will gather in celebration of the many ways alumni serve on this day and throughout the year; thousands of Yalies, families and friends will come together at more than 200 sites across the United States and around the world to make a difference through community service. Levin kicks off series of visits with Yale's "frontline ambassadors"

President Richard C. Levin kicked off a series of visits with “the extended Yale family” — i.e., regional alumni associations — on Nov. 29 when he met with members of the Yale Club of Philadelphia.

More than 100 Yale alumni and friends turned out for the event, held in the Dinosaur Hall in Philadelphia’s Academy of Natural Sciences at Drexel University, whose president and CEO, George Gephart Jr., is a 1975 graduate of Yale College. For more information, click here.

Yale plus ONE: Alumni join forces to promote global service and advocacy

The Association of Yale Alumni (AYA) and ONE, a grassroots advocacy and campaigning organization that fights extreme poverty and preventable disease particularly in Africa, are launching a strategic partnership to promote global service and advocacy by linking the Yale Alumni Service Corps (YASC) with ONE’s education and advocacy programs. The Yale-ONE partnership will begin in 2012, with the YASC Africa Project in Cape Coast and Yamoransa, Ghana, July 27–Aug. 7, 2012.  For more information, please click here.
